Massage Treatments
Swedish Massage
A classic type of relaxation massage which may include long gliding strokes,
kneading, percussive movements, vibration, joint movement, and pressure
applied to release muscular tension. Lubrication is used in this type of massage.
Swedish massage can be a sole type of massage, or can be incorporated with
other modalities.

Deep Swedish Massage

The benefits of a relaxing Swedish Massage plus some deeper pressure applied
to specific focused target areas of tension. This massage is between Swedish
& Deep Tissue.

Cranio Sacral Therapy

Cranio Sacral Therapy relaxes the central nervous system through light touch,
releasing restrictions and improving the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. The fluid flows
from the cranium to the sacrum through the spinal cord to bath the spinal
nerves which affect the entire body. The therapist palpates subtle movements
encouraging the body to release restrictions, self-correct, and bring balance
for a smooth flow of the cranio rhythm. The therapist often follows a 10 step
protocol, uses diaphragm releases, and may facilitate unwinding of the body's
holding patterns. Cranio Sacral Therapy is helpful with headaches, TMJ, head
injuries, and many other issues. It is relaxing and can be received fully clothed
or integrated into a massage session. I have studied Cranio Sacral Therapy
approaches including Upledger, Milne, and John Barnes Myofascial Release.

John Barnes Myofascial Release

John Barnes Myofascial Release involves applying gentle sustained pressure on
connective tissue fascia to release restrictions created by inflammation, scars,
and physical or emotional trauma. Fascia is a continuous 3-D web from head to
toe that holds our body together. fascia also surrounds muscle, bone, organs,
blood vessels, and nerves. Healthy fascia has the ability to move fluidly. When
fascia becomes restricted, if can affect many areas of the body. John Barnes
Myofascial Release reduces pain and dysfunction, restores range of motion, and
brings the body/mind back into balance. It can relieve symptoms of low back
pain, neck pain, headaches, TMJ, pelvic problems, frozen shoulder and rotator
cuff problems. It can be a full body massage, or a focused area treatment.
John Barnes is considered a founding expert of Myofascial Release with over
50 years of experience. I am fortunate to have taken John Barnes Myofascial
Release workshops which he instructed.

Reiki

Reiki is universal life force energy working in harmony through communication
allowing for the healing process of ourselves and planet Earth. Reiki energy
balancing sessions are for stress reduction and relaxation only. I do not
diagnose or perform medical treatments. The client recognizes that self-
improvement requires a willingness to change in a positive way, to receive
the full benefit of an energy balancing session. Reiki sessions are fully clothed
on the massage table with light touch.

Neuromuscular Massage
A deep tissue technique that addresses chronic pain, tension, and tightness
in the body by locating and releasing myofascial trigger points. Moderately slow,
gliding strokes with some pressure are used, and when I come to a tender point,
I will hold constant pressure on it for about 15 seconds, so that it will release
or at least decrease. You determine when we have hit a tender point, and
your own pain threshold.  There will be some discomfort, but we don’t want
you to be in pain. In fact, that would only make the muscles tense up more!
After releasing the tender points, you may be doing some slow stretches
on the muscles called Post-Isometric Muscle Releases (PIMRs) to help
the newly relaxed and toned muscles remember that they can lengthen
to their normal range. Doing the neuromuscular releases and the PIMRs
together helps bring the body back into balance, and puts it in a pain-free
state that will last longer.
Shiatsu/Acupressure Massage
Acupressure works on the circulation of energy pathways in the body,
called meridians, keeping an open flow to maintain health. Every 24 hours
the energy flows through the entire body and 12 major organ meridians in a
specific pattern. Energy may become excessive or deficient in particular areas.
I will apply light to moderate static finger pressure to particular acu-points,
where the energy comes to the surface of the body, for varying lengths of time
to bring the energy flow back into balance. When an acu-point releases,
you may feel a melting, pulsing or change in sensation in the area.
Acupressure can be a primary massage or part of an integrated massage.
If given as a primary massage, you may remain clothed.

Lymphatic Massage (for head and neck only)

The lymphatic system is the pathway of health and detox for the body.
Lymphatic Massage uses very light, rhythmic touch to stimulate lymph
flow. This work feels light and soothing, yet is powerful in clearing out
toxins and promoting overall body health.

SomaEnergetics: Tuning Fork Sound Healing

SomaEnergetics incorporates energetic tuning forks, physical tuning forks, and
an ohm gounding fork to facilitate the client's self-healing through sound
frequencies. Sound vibrations are heard and felt in the body. Sound effects
matter, as Quantum Physics states everything is energy. According to
Dr. Richard Gerber in Vibrational Medicine, the energetic body guides the
development of the physical body. Working with Ancient Solfeggio Frequencies
using Energy Tuning Forks, we can detect distortions in the energy field, and
give the client the opportunity to let go, re-pattern, and change anticipated
physical outcomes. SomaEnergetics Energy Tuning Forks do preventative work,
while SomeEnergetics Physical Tuning Forks address current issues. The Tuning
Forks appear to help the individual optimize their energy, enhance well-being,
release blocked energy, and stimulate proper flow of energy. After the session,
the changes continue for the next 3-7 days in your system.
LaStone Therapy Massage
LaStone Therapy is a relaxing type of massage incorporating hot and
cold stones. The basalt stones are heated to just the right temperature
to release muscle tension, increase blood circulation, and support lymphatic
drainage. The cold marble stones constrict blood vessels to release waste,
soothe muscles and joint inflammation, and relieve sinus congestion.
LaStone Therapy relaxes your muscles enabling a deeper massage
without having to use deep pressure. LaStone uses lubrication with Swedish
strokes with the stones, which are then placed on specific areas of the body
in need. Each session will be individualized to your particular needs of the day.
Hot stone massage can be beneficial for many conditions including muscle aches
and pain, circulatory problems, stress and tension, back pain, osteoarthritis and
arthritis pain, fibromyalgia, anxiety, insomnia, and depression. This type of
massage takes more preparation and typically costs more. I am fortunate to have
taken LaStone Therapy from the founder, Mary Nelson.

Chair Massage
Chair Massage is great for clothed work utilizing various modalities. Typically,
chair massage is performed in short sessions from 10 minutes to 20 minutes.
A massage chair is very portable and can be performed at business locations,
airports, charity events, or festivals. Chair massage is a great way to release
tension, increase energy and introduce people to bodywork.
